There are quite a few hierarchical levels in the FBI agency. So the salary depends on what level the person holds the job. The job role of an FBI agent involves a lot of investigation and maintenance of reports. Typically, it involves investigating several types of cases like murder, bribery, drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortions, high level security breaches and civil rights violation. Most of the FBI agents would be assigned to a specific department. For example, a particular department would handle only murders and kidnappings including extortion. An FBI agent in this department would handle only such cases.
An FBI agent can earn fro $48,000 to $85,000 per annum. However, higher salaries are mainly paid to senior officials. A rookie agent can earn a lower amount during training period. Several agents are even paid stipends during their training period.

Also, you meet new challenges everyday. The eligibility to get into FBI is to get a bachelors degree and then get a masters degree or specialization in subjects like engineering or law.
